Why Use a Doula?
Numerous graphs available within the full Continuous Support For Women During Childbirth review (PDF) compare all data that were available from all included studies and show that, overall, women who received continuous support during childbirth were less likely to:

• have regional analgesia
• have any analgesia/anesthesia
• give birth with vacuum extraction or forceps
• give birth by cesarean
• have a baby with a low 5-minute Apgar score
• report dissatisfaction or a negative rating of the birthing experience

Women receiving continuous support were more likely to give birth spontaneously (that is, with neither cesarean nor vacuum extraction nor forceps) and have a shorter labor. See http://childbirthconnection.org/pdfs/CochraneDatabaseSystRev.pdf for the full scientific study.

* Folks, I hate to say it but I just don't do well in a hospital environment. I'm a much better fit for a home birth or birth center birth. If we have to transport, no problem, but overall laboring at a hospital will not let me support you in my best capacity.

Bring it, Baby! Labor Prep Massage - $225
What be this? Many times I see the same 5 things over and over again that hold a woman back from entering her labor excited and body confident. Lets go through the list together and see what we can do to mitigate any blockages, loosen and prepare your muscles, and create an attitude of joyous anticipation.  Sometimes this massage gets the labor ball rolling, and other times a few of nites of serenity and wrapping up details occur first.
